A failed re-read of the same tag keeps the data from the good read. Requested by @BenBBSLA in #2685, built by @hibikipr in #3390.
 - **`DB_POOL_PRE_PING` to turn off the PostgreSQL connection check (#3396, requested and contributed by @oh-forf in #3413)** — Every pooled PostgreSQL session first checks its connection, and SQLAlchemy wraps that check in an empty `BEGIN; ROLLBACK;`. On a small install that made `pg_stat_database` show around 80% rolled-back transactions and set off rollback-ratio alerts in monitoring. `DB_POOL_PRE_PING=false` skips the check and roughly halves the rollback count. The default stays on: with it off, a connection the server dropped fails the first request that uses it, so turn it off only for a database on the same host or LAN.
